This post has been a long time in coming, but I’m finally sharing some amazing pictures and inspiration from our amazing event in Cancun! The florals, event rentals, and music were all provided by the amazing wedding team at Dreams Playa Mujeres Gulf Resort and Spa! The couple chose to host the wedding at this resort because of their budget friendly all-inclusive accommodations and the option for an over-the-water ceremony! Photo and video were provided by the incredibly talented group at Love Rocks!
In every wedding, the details shots are some of my favorite. They are a collection of all the most thoughtfully chosen pieces, and give a glimpse into the hearts of the bride and groom! Whether your details include a hairpiece made from your grandmother’s wedding dress, a bottle of perfume from your late mother, or wedding rings lovingly designed and customized by your husband-to-be, your detail shots capture all the personal sentimental things you want to remember from your day! Make sure to collect these things in advance, so they’re ready to go for your photographer and you don’t leave something important (like a copy of your invitation) at home!
When you choose a hairstyle for your wedding day, a few different things come into play! The style/cut of your dress, your hair type, your veil if you have one, and the weather you expect are all factors to consider! This lovely bride went with a style that complemented her natural curls, but kept it tame in the ocean breeze. The effect was so beautiful and natural!
This over the water acrylic platform really was such an amazing addition to the ceremony! The modern floral arches elevated the whole space and were repurposed beautifully for the reception as a backdrop to the sweetheart table as well. I always love it when we can choose florals that can serve multiple purposes!
Live music is one of my favorite ways to lend elegance and character to your event! The string quartet did such a wonderful job performing the bride’s preferred selections for the ceremony, and the mariachi band brought such a fun atmosphere to the cocktail hour! Since DJs have replaced musicians at most weddings nowadays, using live musicians for your event has become a statement of style and a centerpiece of entertainment for your guests!
Lighting can make such a difference when setting the mood and atmosphere for your space! This couple chose to frame their garden reception with a canopy of twinkle lights and elevate their party space with a mirrored light-up dance floor. These elements totally defined the space once the sun set! The lighted LOVE letters completed the space and the cold sparklers added an extra touch of magic during the first dance and cake cutting.
This wedding had some beautiful touches that brought out the spirit and personality of the destination they chose! The bride and groom’s hispanic heritage and the location in Mexico was celebrated with piñatas for place cards, M&Ms printed with maracas, a mariachi band, and a tequila bar! The centerpieces featured palm leaves and pineapples to complete the look. Whatever destination you choose, include some elements, speciality menu items, decor pieces, or music from the local culture.
I hope these inspirations from Cancun are helpful as you consider Mexico for your destination wedding! Whatever destination you choose, you can take some of these ideas and incorporate them into your event to create the vibe you’re looking for.
